Half Off Ponds HydroFlow Pumps are designed to deliver high volumes of unobstructed water flow in backyard fish ponds and water gardens. The unique, clog resistant, concave top water intake of the Half Off Ponds HydroFlow Pump delivers three key benefits to conscientious pond keepers.
Unlike typical bottom fed pond pumps with limited water intake, the top water intake of the HydroFlow Pump provides plenty of “off the bottom” surface area for water intake. More surface area means more, unobstructed water flow. Second, any debris that settles on top of the pump is easily cleared with the sweep of a broom or brush. Finally, the HydroFlow Pump handles larger suspended solids that traditional ‘clear water’ pond pumps cannot handle.
Hydro Flow pumps have an energy-efficient electromagnet that is sealed in an epoxy-filled housing. The drive shaft and electromagnetic rotor are recessed in the motor housing with near silent operation and extremely low operating cost. Asynchronous drive motor can be controlled with variable speed controller (not included) that permits you to decrease pump flow as needed.

How Big of a Pump Do I Need?
Minimum pump size is determined by pond type, water volume, head height and friction loss. The minimum pump size recommendations are:
Circulate total pond water volume every 2 hours.
Example: 2,000 GPH pump for a 3000-gallon pond with 2’ waterfall.
Circulate total pond water volume every 1 hour.
Example: 3,800 GPH pump for a 3000-gallon pond with 2’ waterfall.
Circulate total pond water volume every 3/4 hours.
Example: 2,000 GPH pump for a 3000-gallon pond with 2’ waterfall.
Dynamic head pressure is found by taking the vertical height of your waterfall; the distance between where your pump is (typically in the skimmer) and where your waterfall is, and adding the static head pressure (pipe and fittings) 1’ for every 10’ of tubing and 1’ for every elbow or “T” fitting.
Example: 3′ (vertical height) + 2.5 (25′ of tubing) + 2′ (for 2 elbows) = 7.5′ of Dynamic Head Pressure
Note: It is important to take into consideration while calculating how much flow will be at the top of your waterfall by accounting for the head height due to the laws of fluid dynamics. Please refer to the flow chart above to help choose the correct pump.
