Rainbow E2 Black Vacuum Cleaner Review

Introduction

Hi all, welcome to another of our reviews. This time we are going to give you an insight into the good and not so good points of a great vacuum cleaner currently on offer from Rainbow.

Rexair LLC is the manufacturer of Rainbow Cleaning Systems and have been in the business for over 80 years. They are one of the few companies that have developed a water filtration system into some of their models. This, together with various other features, set Rainbow vacuums apart from their rivals.

So, let us introduce you to the focus of our article in this Rainbow E2 Black Vacuum Cleaner Review…

Features

1 Size, Weight, and Mobility

Let us start by giving you an idea as to the size of the E2. It is not comparable to other more lightweight uprights or portable battery-operated units that are out there.

This is a full-size vacuum cleaner with all the extras — the body measures in at 15.5 x 11.8 x 15.8 inches. In itself, not so large, and it is easily stored away in your closet. Bear in mind, however, with all the attachments included, though, will need extra storage.

A bit on the heavy side…Rainbow E2 Black Vacuum Cleaner

Due to the fact that the E2 uses a full water bowl rather than a bin, the weight does increase, to a rather hefty nineteen pounds. Now, because of the extra weight from using a full water bowl, it has to be said that it can be quite difficult to maneuver and lift about. However, the Rexair designers have come up with two features aimed at addressing this issue.

First, there is a topside carry handle that can be used for lifting and carrying. Then, the underside has five sturdy and smooth running rolling casters for pushing and pulling it around.

2 Cleaning Power and Suction

The motor that runs the E2 is a very powerful 1.5 horsepower unit, and this will give 70 cfm of suction. In layman’s terms, that means the airflow to the suction system moves 70 cubic feet of air per minute. That is very impressive, basically super suction!

The E2 could clean every carpet, rug, and floor in all the rooms of your home in one go. We do not suppose you would want to do so but, the E2 is always up to the job, whenever you are ready to go.

The Vacuum head uses a spinning brush roller. As you run the machine over dirty surfaces, the brushes will stir up all debris. The spin function steers all the mess up and into the suction inlet.

Mega versatile…

This for the standard clean set up. You can add versatility to the E2 by using the various attachments that are provided. Rainbow has accessories that have been designed to clean practically every kind of surface you can find in a home environment.

Input power is supplied from household outlets, so keep that in mind when on the move. Rexair state the E2 uses switched inductance technology, which keeps power consumption to a minimum.

3 Bin Capacity

As mentioned, the E2 vacuum cleaner does not use the conventional storage method for all that sucked up dirt. Normally a cleaner will deposit this muck into a bin or bag. With the E2, however, instead of this, it relies on a water bowl.

Unusual, so how does it work?

Well, pretty simple really, all debris and dirt that gets sucked up is deposited into the bowl and trapped in the water. The idea behind this system is that it contains all the dust and dirt. It can not escape and be released back into the air, either while vacuuming or when you empty it.

Emptying a more common bag or bin design can be a mucky and dusty affair. With the water bowl, though, you can just pour the dirty water straight down the drain without being engulfed in a big choking cloud of dust!

Fill it up…

The capacity of the E2 water bowl is 2.5 quarts. This is more than enough to manage the cleaning muck gathered from the cleaning of a typical home.

To ensure maximum potential from the E2, we recommend you empty and clean the water bowl after every use. There is an LED light in place above the tank so you can monitor just how mucky, the water is getting. You do not want to get so much dirt in there that the water starts turning into sludge.

4 Double Filtration System

Rainbow E2 Black Vacuum Cleaner Filter

Rainbow has installed two filter systems in this model. This is a true H13 class HEPA grade filtration feature, and this is what sets Rainbow vacuum cleaners to a higher level.

Also, the water itself is used as a filter medium and offers distinct benefits.

All soluble dust and dirt is trapped in the bowl. Great news if you suffer from allergies. Any particles that may escape the entrapment of the water are caught by the HEPA filter, so nothing that gets sucked up, gets out. Rexair, boldly claim the E2 will contain 99.9% of vacuumed dirt.

Another useful benefit…

The other clever thing about using water as a filter is it removes the bothersome clogging issues that arise from using standard filters. Dust and debris can build up, and it is very hard to remove and clean out of them. This, in turn, reduces suction power and incurs the expense of replacement filters — no such worries with the E2.

5 Features and Attachments

The adjustable power nozzle attachment uses rotating edge brushes to ensure nothing is missed as you run into the corners, along the skirting and those other hard to reach places. A turbo nozzle also comes with the machine. Other attachments supplied will allow for carpets or smooth floor surfaces, even couches and velor surfaces to be cleaned.

A nice touch that is fitted to the E2 is an air purifier. So, not only can you vacuum up all dirt particles into a completely enclosed water tank, but this model will also aromatize and purify the air around you. This works 24/7, and an extra two purifier replacements are included on purchase.

  1. I have one of these units and it works well, but the mfgrs warranty is not worth the paper it is written on. After a couple of years, the rubber hose in the powerhead split and when I called they said that I would need to purchase a new powerhead at $119 as the hose was not covered under warranty. Now this nice little piece of expensive equipment utilizes DUCT TAPE to keep it going. Will not purchase anything further from this outfit.
