What to Look for When Buying a 2-Person Hot Tub?
There are a number of important things to consider when buying a 2-person hot tub for your home. But, here are the most essential…
The price of 2 person hot tubs ranges enormously from the cheapest inflatable models to the most expensive permanently installed models with all the bells and whistles. Save yourself some time by working out what you can afford and focus on the models within that range.
Will your hot tub be situated inside the house or in the back yard? Make sure you have the available space to fit your desired model, whether it’s indoors or out. If you’re buying a permanently fixed indoor model, make sure delivery access to the desired location is possible.
Size and Dimensions and Comfort
Never forget to check the dimensions of your tub before buying. You’ll want to make sure it will fit you both comfortably, especially if either of you are on the larger end of the scale. Many models come with molded seats, which radically increase comfort. Something to look out for.
Inflatable or Permanently Fixed
Would an inflatable and portable hot tub fulfill your needs, or are you looking for a permanently situated Jacuzzi? Inflatable hot tubs can be moved or stored away when empty, freeing up space if needed. Hardshell tubs offer a superior design quality and more features but are heavy, so they will need a dedicated space.
Ease of Installation and Maintenance
Take a little stress out of your life by choosing a model that is simple to set up and maintain. An effective and dependable filter can do most of the work for you. You will still have to regularly clean and change the filter, keep the pH levels balanced, and the tub itself clean.
Water should also be drained and refilled a few times per year, although this can be reduced if using a salt water system. If your tub is outside during the colder months, then it will need to be adequately protected when not being used.
It’s not a hot tub if it isn’t hot! Make sure your hot tub is capable of rapid heating and is insulated well enough to retain that heat. Some models take far too long to heat up, leaving you waiting when all you want to do is relax
Consider the running costs of any hot tub you’re looking at. These can vary significantly from model to model and make quite a difference to your electricity bill over the course of a year. The better insulated your tub, the less energy is needed to maintain the temperature, and the smaller your bill will be.
Buying from a trustworthy manufacturer with years of experience in the market is a wise move. These luxury items are generally not cheap, so look for a manufacturer with good warranty provision and excellent customer service. Customer reviews can help you determine this.
Jets and Therapy Options
A vital feature for any hot tub are the water jets. A good rule of thumb is that the more jets your hot tub features, the better your experience will be. Most tubs have the ability for the user to control jet strength with more expensive designs, also providing rotational controls. All of this adds to the therapeutic and massage capabilities of your tub.
Cheaper inflatable tubs usually come equipped with bubble blowers rather than concentrated water jets. These can’t be directed at particular areas offering relaxation rather than massage.
Some more luxurious tubs also offer aromatherapy features and colored LED lights that help relax or energize the user.
Make sure you check what accessories come included in the price of your hot tub. Does it come with an insulating cover which will help reduce energy costs? Are practical features such as comfortable headrests, steps, a handrail or drink receptacles part of the design.
Now you know what to look out for, let’s see if we can narrow down the best 2 person hot tub by reviewing 9 of the best on the market.

Best 2 Person Hot Tub Reviews
1 American Spas AM-628TS 2-Person Triangle Spa
This classic design comes equipped with 28 stainless steel hydrotherapy jets built into the molded seats. Each seat has the ability to regulate the flow and direction of the jets, allowing you to target the desired area of your body more effectively.
Comfort has been given top priority in the design process. The molded seats and triangular design ensure a comfortable yet intimate experience for any couple.
Keeps you nice and warm…
The solid Titanium heater provides you with silent yet fast water heating, and the impressive materials used in the tub’s construction mean it retains the heat well. Important when taking running costs into consideration.
This model also comes with a water Ozonator. Ozone breaks down pollutants in the water, meaning less reliance on chlorine to keep things sanitary.
Lighten up your relaxation…
Other features include programmable LED lights with seven different colors designed to enhance mood and atmosphere whilst you relax.
Once you’ve had the tub installed, it’s extremely easy to set up with very little effort needed other than plugging it in and filling it up. It also comes with a cover.
It’s right up there with the most expensive 2 person tubs on our list, but with an impressive array of features, it’s definitely a contender.
- Quick to heat up.
- Impressive sanitizing technology.
- Easy to install.
- Very comfortable.
- Fully adjustable hydrotherapy jets.
- Mood setting LED lights.
- Stylish design.
- The cover can be difficult to fit.
2 SaluSpa Miami AirJet Inflatable Hot Tub
This cheap and cheerful inflatable hot tub is the cheapest of all the models we reviewed. At less than 10% of the cost of our most expensive models, this versatile tub is great for both indoor and back yard use. It’s ridiculously easy to set up and weighs just 54lbs, so is almost anyone is capable of moving it. Should you choose, it can also be packed away to accompany you on the road.
What you save in money, you lose when it comes to extra features. You won’t get the same hydrotherapy experience that the water jets on more expensive models supply. Instead, this model relies on 80 bubble jets to liven up the water. Pleasant as they are, it’s not what we’d call massage therapy.
Could be a bit of a squash…
Due to the circular design, this tub can fit up to 4 people, although comfort may be compromised depending on the size of the individuals. It’s really a spacious 2 person hot tub at heart.
The heating system isn’t what we’d call rapid. It will heat water up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit at approximately 2 degrees every hour. Cold water will, therefore, take a long time to heat. You’ll need to initially fill this tub with warm water if you don’t want to wait all day for a soak.
Bubbles or heat?
Also, the heater can’t run at the same time as the bubble jets. So extensive use of the jets could result in a loss of heat.
Overall, for the budget conscious couple, this easy to maintain hot tub will provide a deeply relaxing if not quite therapeutic experience at a fraction of the cost.
- Affordable for most.
- Portable design.
- Ease of set-up.
- Bubble jets provide a soothing experience.
- Could squeeze four people in.
- Slow to heat.
- No hydrotherapy water jets.
- No seats.
- Heater and bubble jet cannot run simultaneously.
3 Coleman 13804 Inflatable Hot Tub
This contender for best 2 person hot tub has a very similar spec to the SaluSpa Miami. It’s our second cheapest tub on the list, fractionally more expensive than the SaluSpa.
This value for money tub offers many advantages including portability, ease of use, and 60 built-in bubble jets. The bubble massage experience is soothing but not really therapeutic. Two handles make moving this tub a breeze.
Very easy to maintain…
The Coleman comes with two changeable water filters and a floating filter to absorb any surface pollutants. This seems to be effective in keeping the water well filtered.
You can fit four average sized people in, but this tub is most comfortable with just two. As with most inflatables, no seating is provided. It does have a cushioned base, though, which does the job.
Add some hot water…
Although faster to heat than the SaluSpa, it still takes an age from cold. You’ll have to start with warm water if using in colder environments. The inflatable cover provides some insulation when trying to keep the heat in.
A solid performer for its price. The Coleman won’t disappoint if your expectations aren’t too high.
- Nice and cheap.
- Well filtered
- Spacious for a couple.
- 60 bubble jets
- Not a therapeutic option
- Takes a while to heat.
- No seating
4 Aleko HTIO2BKW Oval Inflatable Hot Tub Spa – Best Two Person Portable Hot Tub
This stylish inflatable hot tub is made with an oval construction, which feels more sturdy than a lot of circular designs. This is strictly a two person hot tub, a very cozy one at that. As with all inflatables, it’s highly portable, even more so due to the compact design. The intimacy and accompanying drinks tray make it great for a romantic soak with your partner.
The ALEKO’s size is a big advantage adding way more options on where you can set up. This can easily accompany you on road trips and would be a nice addition for any RV enthusiasts out there.
Quicker than most…
Due to the lower water volume and a heater that can warm water 3 degrees F/hour, this tub is quicker than its budget rivals to reach peak temperature of 108 degrees in around three hours.
With 130 bubble jets, you can really create quite a commotion. Although this does go some way to providing a more therapeutic experience, it’s still no substitute for powerful water jets.
At only slightly more than the other inflatables on the list, the ALEKO is still very cheap and packs a lot of value into a stylish and portable design.
- Can be used in any location, there is space.
- A true 2 person hot tub.
- Heats up relatively quickly.
- Very good value for money.
- Plug and play power source.
- Large number of bubble jets.
- Questionable durability
- Poor warranty.
- Limited therapeutic benefits.
5 AquaRest Spas AR-300 2 Person Hot Tub
Rising up a price point or two, the AR-300 is a spacious mid-range offering from AquaRest. It’s beautifully made and comes with a host of features for your money. Its plug n play versatility means it has the potential to be moved wherever you want it as long as there’s a plug. That being said, it still weighs 232lbs when empty, so you’ll need a few of you.
The molded body is very well constructed and comes with a 5-year warranty from the manufacturer, giving you confidence that this was built to last.
This tub was definitely built with comfort in mind…
There’s more than enough space for two, and the 14 adjustable water jets are well placed to provide a pleasant massage. There is also a mood enhancing LED backlit water feature with nine different settings. One of them is ‘off’ if it’s not to your taste. Both these features and the temperature can be controlled from a conveniently placed panel within arm’s reach.
The advanced filtration system combined with Ozone technology will keep your water 100% clean. This means less reliance on chemicals to sanitize your tub, which is better for both you and your best two person spa.
The tub heats water at an acceptable rate, and the foam insulation technology between the walls means it will stay warmer for longer, saving you money on extra heating.
All in all, the portable AquaRest gives good value for money, offering a lot of the same features as more expensive models whilst half the price. A real contender for best 2 person hot tub.
- Built for comfort.
- Portable – Moving house? No problem.
- Good value for money.
- Therapeutically beneficial
- Impressive warranty.
- Waterfall feature.
- Length of time to heat water isn’t great
- LED feature may not be to everyone’s taste.
6 Intex 77 In PureSpa Portable Bubble Massage Hot Tub – Best 2 Person Inflatable Hot Tub
The inflatable Intex is another very affordable yet tough option for those on a budget. Made with special Fiber technology, this tub feels way sturdier than other blow up tubs. Therefore, it’s more comfortable too. This tub is made to last with a strong three ply laminated fiber that feels like it would be hard to puncture, an important factor, especially if you have kids.
The six extra inches of diameter on this circular tub, mean it is more capable of comfortably soaking four people, and 2-3 can fully stretch out in the space provided. The 120 air jets are more than capable of supplying an energizing experience and seem particularly strong on this model.
Great for RV’s…
Filtration is also a piece of cake with easily changeable water cartridges keeping your water soft and fresh. As portable and easy to set-up as any inflatable, the Intex packs neatly into its own carry bag. A big hit with RV owners using campsites regularly.
A number of add-ons are available, including headrests and seats, which really make for a much more comfortable soaking experience. This makes it the most versatile and good value for money of all the inflatable tubs we’ve featured. The Intex would be a clear winner if we were only reviewing blow-up spas.
- Sturdy and durable material.
- Excellent value for money.
- Comfortable, even more so with add-ons.
- Capable of handling four people.
- Retains heat well.
- Strong air jets
- Slow to fully heat like most cheaper models.
- Invigorating massage but not therapeutic.
7 QCA Spas Model 0 Gemini Hot Tub – Best Small Hot Tub
This mid-range priced hot tub from QCA, is very easy to set-up, thanks to its plug n’ play design. Simply find a suitable outlet and fill it with a garden hose, and you’ll be using it in no time.
The two phase heating system works very well, heating water quickly, efficiently, and to a high temperature. The heat recycling technology employed will also save you a lot on utility bills over its lifetime.
Comfort is high on the list of design priorities…
With molded bucket seats and armrests, you and your partner can unwind for longer. And eight well placed water jets provide a soothing massage to aching bodies. Relatively compact, it’s on the intimate side of the size divide, definitely more suited to romantic occasions with your partner than use with a friend.
The lightweight but durable materials used in construction, make this a relatively lightweight unit, making it possible to move around the house with some help. Its dimensions also make it more versatile in where it can be placed than bigger, more permanent tubs.

- Fast and efficient heating.
- Can be moved easily enough.
- Competitively priced.
- Easy to set-up and maintain.
- Elegant design.
- Heater is a little noisy.
- No setup instructions supplied.
- Digital temperature gauge not easy to read.

A touch of class…
Housed in a beautiful wooden cabinet, resistant to water rot and insects, this tub should stay looking good for years to come. The only negative we could find is that it’s not the most portable of tubs weighing 550lbs dry. You’ll probably want to pick a more permanent location for this model.
